Dear Hartford Families,
The Hartford School District places a high value on students learning a second language. Language learning expands our students' horizons and opens their minds to the cultures of the world. It also supports increased learning in other subjects and opens doors for students post-graduation.
We currently offer programs in Spanish (K-12), French (9-12), and German (9-12). In addition, we offer a World Language Lab at the high school for students who would like to pursue languages that we do not offer. The French, Spanish, and German programs may culminate in opportunities for students to travel internationally, including service learning trips and student exchange programs.
As we look to improve the district's World Language Program, we would like your feedback! We'd like to know what currently works well and what could be improved. We would also like to explore what other languages could be considered in the future. Please consider filling out the following exploratory survey. Included on the survey page are some resources that may help as you consider why you may want to learn a certain language.
Please feel free to contact Cassandra North (northc@hartfordschools.net) with any questions regarding this outreach. Contact information for all district language teachers can be found by visiting our website pages included on the survey. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts with us!
Sincerely,
The Hartford School District Language Teachers
