Wolves on the Prowl is Ottauquechee School’s outdoor activity club. The club was formed in 2011 after two staff members attended a professional development course about the Appalachian Trail called “Trail to Every Classroom.” The program is voluntary; students volunteer to participate and OQS teachers volunteer to lead. Due to the nature of the club and some of the activities we do, it is only available to fourth and fifth grade students at OQS. Some of the activities we do include: trail maintenance on our school’s trail system, hiking local mountains such as Gile, Tom and Cardigan, caretaking the Thistle Hill shelter on the Appalachian Trail, knife safety, snowshoeing, survival bracelet weaving, cross-country skiing and indoor rock climbing. The club welcomes parent volunteer as well as former OQS student volunteers. If you are interested in learning more about the program or would like to volunteer to help, please contact Mr. McGee at mcgeer@hartfordschools.net.
